Architect & Planner

Graduated from Cairo University (B.Arch.1949), He got a Fulbright Scholarship for graduate Studies in USA, his Master’s degree in 1954 from Univ. of Michigan and PH.D. in architecture from Colombia University in 1957.

Prof. Dr. Aly Raafat books on Architecture were published in Cairo, New York and Moscow. He designed and supervised different public and private projects inside and outside Egypt.

Academic Activities

Professor of Architecture – Cairo University

• Teaching in Cairo University, Architecture Department: Architecture Theory & History I,II,III,IV, since 1958. Teaching Architecture concepts, Graduate Studies, Cairo University since 1963.

• Supervision of hundreds of Master and PH. D. in Egyptian and Arab Universities since 1957.

• Delivering public lectures on architectural & art theories all over the Arab World.

Membership in Local organizations

• Head of National Committee for promoting Professors & Ass. Professors in Architecture.

• Member of Egyptian Society of Architects, Cairo.

• Member of Egyptian syndicate of Engineers.

• Member of Consulting committee on housing , Ministry of Construction.

Professional Contributions in Consultations Domain

Prof. Dr. Aly Raafat established and directed INTER-CONSULT; He is assisted by a group of Architects and Engineers. “INTERCONSULT” activities started in Cairo 1949 and soon extended to Jeddah 1960, Riyadh 1973, Dubai 1974, Sharjah 1975, Bahrain 1976 and Abu-Dhabi 1977 with established and operating branches.

The first covers a wide field of experiences and specializations starting from environmental design, infra structure, city and urban design to specific buildings design. The firm has actual successful local & international achievement in residential, Touristic, Int., diplomatic, cultural, health, commercial, educational, interior and landscape designs as well as public and industrial buildings.

The firm with its staff or through joint ventures with Int. & local firm accomplish consulting services in Civil Works, Bridges, Highways, Irrigation, Land Reclamation, Transportation, Energy, Water and Sewage Projects. It offers consultations in automation, prefabrication  EN and other building techniques.
